Wednesday is an American Supernatural Horror Comedy series distributed by Netflix. 

Not only Miles Millar and Alfred Gough are the creaters behind this series but also Tim Burton directed  4 out of 8 episodes of this series.

The cast consists of Jenna Ortega, Gwendoline Christie, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane, Catherine Zeta- Jones, Luis Guzman, and many more.

 

This series is based on a fictional family called 'The Addams Family' , which was created by an American Cartoonist  Named Charles Addams.

 

This series became so popular because ' The Addams family ' was a famous franchise and also the dark , sarcastic , humorous tone of the characters and the story. 

 

STORY

The Story revolves around a teenage  girl named Wednesday Addams from the Addams family. She got expelled from many schools because of her peculiar behavior . At the previous school she tried to kill some bully boys who  bullied her brother  by putting some piranha fish in the boys pool and as a result she got expelled .

So , Wednesday's parents Morticia Addams and Gomez Addams admits her in a special school named ' Nevermore Academy'. Morticia and Gomez themselves studied at that school.

Nevermore Academy is a special school for children who are outcasts or children with supernatural abilities. Wednesday also has a supernatural ability, and also  Wednesday's cold-hearted , emotionless and sarcastic mind set helped her to keep people away from her.

Nevermore Academy situates at a small town called Jericho, and a murder spree is happening over there, also there is a mysterious connection with the murders and the Addams family. The series focuses on revealing the murder mystery along the way.

CHARACTERS & PERFORMANCES

Jenna Ortega plays wonderfully as  Wednesday Addams.

Wednesday is a special kind , basically she is a goth girl who loves black and white dress, has black hair , and loves colour black and everything she loves are dark and creepy to normal people. She  has an emotionless face , she is sarcastic and cold hearted  and also she loves torturing and death.

Wednesday is very smart and have many skills, and detest other people so she loves being alone and working alone . She has all the creepiness of the Addams family.

I loved this character very much, Jenna displayed wonders on screen. 

I don't know much about the classic Wednesday  but I can say that Jenna did a great job portraying  Wednesday.

"The Thing" : It is a member of Addams family,  basically 'The thing' is a right Hand palm which is alive . The thing has feelings and emotions and also The thing is kind of an MVP in the series.

And then there is Nevermore Academy's  Pricipal Larissa Weems. Our beloved famous actress from ' Game of Thrones ' Gwendoline Christie plays as Larissa Weems.  The character was good and also her acting.

Wednesday's best friend Enid Sinclair is portrayed by Emma Myers . Enid is a werewolf and an exact opposite of Wednesday. 

Wednesday is closed minded and hold hearted but Enid is an extroverted , joyful, vibrant character.

Catherine Zeta- Jones portrays as Wednesday's mother Morticia Addams and Luis Guzman plays the role of Gomez Addams who is her father. Issac Ordonz plays as her brother Pugsley and Fred Armisen as her Uncle Fester. 

 

I don't know much about the Addams family and their characteristic , but i think all the actors did a great job playing as them.

 

There are even more characters in the show like Tyler played by  Hunter Doohan , Xavier played by Percy Hynes white. 

And I just found out that the Actress  Christina Ricci who played as the Old Wednesday in the ' Addams Family' movie franchises  was also in this series as   Marylin Thornhill .

Everyone did a great job in showing their characters but what made me drop my jaw is Jenna Ortega . She did a fantastic job.

OTHER TECHNICAL THINGS 

 I don't know much about things like   Choreography , direction or music. But I want to express what i felt. 

we can feel the presence of Tim Burton throughout the series, the total aesthetics, the style  etc, was all Tim Burton style. It's mood and vibe are on a different level, and I like that feeling.

And the Music department did a nice job, and helped to get immersed in the scenes on the screen.

OVERALL

In my overall perspective  Wednesday  is a good entertaining  horror comedy series. I liked it very much and enjoyed it thoroughly , and also the vibe and aesthetic of the series was  fine. 

I didn't wanted to see the series in the first place because it was produced and distributed by Netflix, thinking it will be full of woke. But for my surprise the series didn't have anything like that.

The Wednesday series became one of the most watched  english series on netflix in no time ,  and the people accepted it .

Netflix might have learned that , If people who respects  and cares about the original source materials, with good talent  and someone who actually like it for a change works for the product , the results will be amazing, and the audience will accept it.

If we nit pick there are some minor problems in the show. Like at some point I feared that the show will turn into some teen drama or love triangle thing, but they didn't over did it. and somethings will say it is a knock off of harry potter franchise, but  those aren't that bad actually.

In Overall I was entertained  and i liked it very much, especially Wednesday.
