If there is a Genre named masterpiece Vinland saga is one in them, I loved this anime very much . I am not up to the level to judge or criticize this anime , yet I am sharing my experience .
An amazing anime . Animation, sounds, characters, story, voice acting every thing was toe to toe with each other.
If I haven't watched this one It would have been a shame.
STORY
It is a story based on Vikings , thier warriors, their bravery and treachery, and they are mixed with history.
The viking commander Thors escapes from a battle , plotting his own death. He then escapes to the Iceland with his wife and newborn daughter.
Thors was not a coward, he was the mightiest, strongest, bravest warrior. He wanted to end the life of war and murder, he chose the path of peace and took an oath to never kill anyone .
While in Iceland a boy was born to the couple. His name was Thorfinn. His dream was to go to the Vinland where there is an endless field of grass, a land where there was no slavery no discrimination and it was fertile and peaceful land .
Then Flokki one of the commander in Jomsvikings comes to the village of Thors and demands him to join in the war against England. It was their King's order.
Thors agrees to go with them with his small group of inexperienced warriors . And Thorffin also gets on to the ship without anyone noticing.
Flokki's original intention was to murder Thors. For that he hired an assassin named Askaladd and his group.
( From here on there is a minor spoiler, the incident happens in episode 4 , so read at your own risk)
Askaladd traps Thors and his team .. and kills Thors through treachery in front of Thorfinn.
Devastated by his father's death Thorfinn wanted to get revenge. And follows Askaladd.
So , this is a story about revenge , war, murder, warriors, treachery .
CHARACTERS
Almost all the characters shown in the anime have their own contributions in the story.
I will talk about some of the main characters here .
Thorffin: He is the main character of this anime. His childhood was happy, peaceful and he was innocent . He had this dream of going to the Vinland. But everything took a turn when his father died.. now he has only one thing in his mind , that is to kill Askaladd and get his revenge.
Thorffin becomes a fine and brave warrior, in the season one he is in his teanage.
Good character , I loved him.
Thors : The mighty Thors, he was the bravest, strongest, mightiest, warrior.
It is near impossible to beat Thors through the right way.
He was a short lived character, but the impact he left even after is soo great.
Awesome character.
Askaladd: He is like an antagonist in the first season. Askaladd is an assassin who would do anything for money.
Also a complex character. He had that much character depth.
He was cunning, brave, and strong.
I loved him soo much.. awesome charecter.
Thorkell : He is an awesome character. Complete show stealer, and he is like a devil. Whenever Thorkell is in the frame we will only focus on him. Thorkell is incredibly strong, tall and he also have the brain power too..
He is a warrior..... Super character.. I liked him too.
Canute : He is the second son of the King of vaikings. Canute have the best and terrifying characters development in the story. Nice character.
There are a lot of other characters too..
ANIMATION, SOUND AND OTHER THINGS
Awesome animation.. WiT Studios have done an incredible job by animating this anime.
Soo many goosebump moments.. we will watch each fight sequence without blinking . It also have many beautiful frames too.
Sound section too was amazing, we will not notice the background scores.. it sooo smoothly intertwined with the scenes.
Great music , great bgm.. I loved it.
Voice acting was perfect especially Askaladd, Thors, Thorkell .
It feels like the incidence are happening right infront of us. We will get immersed in the anime.
OVERALL
I loved Vinland saga soo much, and I enjoyed all of the episode..
I think there is no bad episodes in the anime. All of them are top notch.
Vinland Saga gave me goosebumps, sorrow, and a lot to think about.
I love this anime.. I strongly recommend to watch Vinland Saga.
You will not be disappointed.
